Apple has opened its next round of software testing to the public. On Thursday, the company seeded the first public betas of iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS Golden Gate 27.3, tvOS 27.3 and watchOS 27.3, according to MacRumors. The releases arrive two days after the developer betas.
What is in the update
MacRumors describes iOS 27.3 as a major update. In Safari, it adds a Vertical Tabs layout option and an Adaptive Dark Mode. Siri AI can now do more in and across Apple's apps, and developers can build actions for Siri to carry out.
The redesigned Health app is also part of the beta, with custom Insights and Longevity information. iPhone Duo owners get Reachability support, Apple Music gains a Selfie Sing feature, and StandBy changes on iPhones that are not the Duo.
Watch and Mac
On the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, the beta includes two Audio Intelligence features. Live Rewind creates a transcript of the last 15 seconds of speech, while Siri Recap offers a high-level summary of conversations through the day.
macOS Golden Gate 27.3 carries the same Safari additions. It also brings Live Activities to Macs that do not have a Dynamic Island.
How to join
Anyone can sign up on Apple's beta testing website. Once enrolled, the betas install through the Software Update section of the Settings app on each device. As with any pre-release software, bugs are possible, so many testers prefer a secondary device and a fresh backup before installing.
MacRumors says it expects all of the updates to ship to the general public in December. Apple has not confirmed a release date, and features can still change or be removed before then.
Several of these additions have already surfaced in coverage of the developer betas, including the Health app's return, Safari's vertical tabs and the Live Activities menu bar support. The public beta simply widens the audience that can try them ahead of the final release.
