MacRumors reports that it has confirmed the amount of memory inside Apple's new HomePod mini 2: 2GB of RAM, supplied by SK Hynix. The site, which published the finding on November 4, did not say how it verified the figure and did not name a source for it, so the detail rests on MacRumors' own reporting rather than on anything Apple has published.

That gap is the reason the number is worth writing down. According to MacRumors, Apple does not list the memory in the tech specs for the HomePod mini 2, which is typical for the company: it rarely discloses RAM for devices like speakers, watches and accessories, and enthusiasts usually learn the figure from teardowns, firmware or other digging after launch.

For context, MacRumors compares the new figure with the S10 chip in the Apple Watch Series 10, which also carries 2GB of RAM. MacRumors' coverage of the speaker describes it as using an S10 chip, though the memory article itself does not state that link directly, so it would be a stretch to read the comparison as a formal confirmation of the internals.

The HomePod mini 2 was announced on October 13. MacRumors described the launch as a $149 speaker with Siri AI, a feature Apple calls Sound Glow and four-speaker surround sound. Siri's new AI features are the obvious reason memory matters here, since on-device assistant work tends to benefit from more headroom than a simple audio streaming and smart home hub requires. That is an interpretation, however, not something Apple or MacRumors has said about this particular speaker, and the report does not connect the 2GB figure to any specific feature.

What the confirmation does give buyers and tinkerers is a clearer picture of what sits inside the small speaker. Two gigabytes is a modest amount by phone or computer standards, but it matches the memory in a recent Apple Watch chip, which suggests Apple reused a proven, power-efficient design rather than building something larger for the speaker.

Apple has not commented on the memory figure, and it has not published a RAM number for the HomePod mini 2 on its product pages. Until it does, the SK Hynix 2GB detail should be treated as a well-placed but unofficial report from MacRumors. We will update if Apple, a teardown or other reporting adds more detail about the speaker's internal hardware.
