iOS 27.2 gives Apple TV owners a new way to track down a misplaced Siri Remote: the remote now appears in the Find My app, according to a 9to5Mac report published on October 30.

Until now, the only built-in option was the Remote feature in Control Center, which could help locate a lost remote only in limited ways. With iOS 27.2, compatible remotes are listed alongside other items in the Devices tab of Find My. 9to5Mac says the Siri Remote (2nd generation) and later models are supported, so owners of existing Apple TV hardware are not left out.

What the new remote adds

The latest Siri Remote, which Apple introduced with the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K on October 13, goes further. Apple's newsroom announcement says the remote adds Find My support with Precision Finding, plus an option to play a sound so it is easier to locate. Precision Finding uses on-screen guidance on the iPhone to point you toward the item, in the same way it works with AirTag.

9to5Mac reports that the directional guidance requires an iPhone 17 or newer, while the sound option is available more broadly. Apple says the new remote works with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K models and can also be bought separately. 9to5Mac lists the standalone price at $59.

Availability

Apple's announcement states that Find My support is available on the Siri Remote (2nd generation or later). The company says the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, priced at $299 in the U.S., begins arriving in stores on Friday, November 13, with pre-orders open since the announcement.

The change is small, but it addresses a common household annoyance. The slim Siri Remote is easy to lose between sofa cushions, and a lost remote has until now meant digging around or relying on the Remote control in Control Center. Placing it in Find My puts it in the same place people already look for AirPods, AirTag-tagged items and other Apple devices.

Apple has not published separate release notes for this specific feature in the material reviewed here, so the details above come from Apple's Apple TV 4K announcement and 9to5Mac's hands-on description of iOS 27.2. Apple has not said whether it will extend Precision Finding to earlier remotes.
