Apple Watch Series 7
Bigger screen, tougher glass and faster charging.
Overview
Series 7 kept the familiar shape but trimmed the borders around the screen so the display grew by about 20 percent compared with Series 6. The case sizes moved to 41 and 45 mm, and the extra space made text larger, enabled a QWERTY keyboard with swipe typing and allowed two new watch faces.
The front crystal got a flatter, thicker design that Apple said was more resistant to cracks, and the case gained an IP6X dust rating next to the existing 50-metre water resistance. Charging became about 33 percent faster through a new USB-C magnetic cable.
The chip was nearly unchanged from Series 6, so this was a refinement year. Supply problems delayed shipping until mid-October, a few weeks after the usual September release.
Why it mattered
Introduced the larger edge-to-edge display that every later standard Apple Watch has built upon.
