HomePod mini (2nd generation)
The mini gets an S10 chip, Siri AI and a glowing top.
Overview
The 2026 HomePod mini keeps its small spherical outline but upgrades most of what is inside. An S10 chip analyses the music in real time to adjust dynamic range and loudness, and a single full-range driver with two passive radiators projects sound in all directions.
The top surface now lights up, a feature called Sound Glow that responds to the colours of album art during playback. Recognition of up to six household voices and the ability to hand off conversations to Siri AI, which arrives in a software update, are new additions.
Home theatre setups can use two minis with an Apple TV 4K or pair full-size HomePods in front and rear pairs for four-speaker surround. It also detects smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and acts as a home hub. Colours include white, pink, green, blue and midnight, and the speaker costs $149.
Why it mattered
Refreshed Apple's smaller speaker as a platform for Siri AI and surround sound.
