iPhone 16 Pro Max
The biggest iPhone display yet and the longest battery life.
Overview
With a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display, the 16 Pro Max was the largest iPhone ever built at the time. Narrower borders meant the body grew only slightly over the previous Pro Max, and thanks to the efficient A18 Pro it set a new battery benchmark of up to 33 hours of video playback.
Its three-camera setup matched the 16 Pro, with a 48-megapixel Fusion main camera, a 48-megapixel ultra wide and a 5x tetraprism telephoto, and added Camera Control. Photographic Styles, which were reworked with a finer control scheme, let users shape skin tones and color mood in a more targeted way.
The phone also unlocked 4K recording at 120 fps in Dolby Vision, as well as studio-quality audio capture. Titanium finishes included a new Desert Titanium. Storage started at 256GB, and the price held at $1,199.
Why it mattered
It combined the largest screen and the longest battery life in the iPhone line at that time.
