iPhone XS Max
The largest iPhone yet, with a 6.5-inch OLED screen.
Overview
The XS Max was aimed at people who wanted the biggest display Apple would build. Its 6.5-inch Super Retina screen was about the same physical size as the 8 Plus, yet it fit in a body hardly larger thanks to the narrow bezels around the OLED panel.
Inside it matched the smaller XS: the A12 Bionic chip with its eight-core Neural Engine, 4GB of RAM, dual 12MP cameras with Smart HDR and a stainless steel frame with IP68 water resistance. The bigger body held a battery that Apple rated at about 90 minutes longer than the XS.
Dual SIM support, with a nano-SIM and an eSIM, was included in most markets. In China a dual physical SIM version was sold. At $1,099 for 64GB it was the first iPhone to start above $1,000.
Why it mattered
It was the first iPhone to be priced above $1,000, signaling Apple's push into the premium market.
