Apple has put a date on its next round of Mac and iPad announcements, and it is calling the occasion "Pro and Tell." Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, posted on X on October 19 that he "can't wait to pro and tell next week," giving the event its name.

According to MacRumors, Apple has invited members of the media to an in-person "experience" in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, starting at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple has not published a product list, and the details below come from MacRumors' reporting and earlier rumors rather than from the company.

A hands-on format, not a keynote

MacRumors says the gathering is not expected to be a traditional keynote presentation. It points to Apple's recent launches of HomeView, HomePod and Apple TV, where journalists were given hands-on time with the hardware and were free to share first impressions. The site expects a batch of press releases to go out around the time the event starts.

What is rumored

The products MacRumors expects to see are a MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen, an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip, an M6 iMac, and an iPad mini with an OLED display. The publication notes that the "Pro" in the tagline and the animated logo suggest the touchscreen laptop will sit within the MacBook Pro family, rather than arrive as a separate "MacBook Ultra" model.

None of these products has been confirmed by Apple. The Cupertino News rumors page tracks each of them as unconfirmed.

Timing is not fully settled

Not every report agrees on when the hardware will actually be available. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported last week that the OLED MacBook Pro and other devices could launch on Friday, November 6, which differs from the October 28 date MacRumors expects for the announcements. One reading of the two reports is that Apple could announce the products on October 28 and begin sales later, but that is an inference rather than something either outlet has said.

Apple's invitation and Joswiak's post confirm that an event is happening next week. Everything about what Apple will show, and when customers can buy it, remains unconfirmed until the company publishes its announcements.
