Apple's new HomeView smart home hub pairs its A18 chip with 8GB of memory, according to MacRumors, which says it confirmed the figure after noticing that Apple leaves it off the product's tech specs page.

The detail comes from a report by Joe Rossignol published on November 5. MacRumors does not explain in its article how it verified the number, so the confirmation rests on the outlet's own reporting rather than anything Apple has stated publicly. Apple's published specifications for HomeView name the A18 chip but give no memory capacity.

The figure is not a surprise. MacRumors notes that the A18 also comes with 8GB of RAM in every iPhone 16 model and in the MacBook Neo, so the hub effectively matches the memory of those devices. That makes HomeView a considerably more capable machine than a typical smart speaker, which fits Apple's positioning of the device as a home hub that runs Siri AI and a full touch interface.

HomeView was announced on October 13 with a 7-inch display and is listed by MacRumors as launching on November 13. Apple's product page shows a tilting screen mounted on a speaker base, with a home dashboard, FaceTime calls, music playback and Siri as headline uses.

Memory capacity matters for a device of this kind because it governs how much on-device processing the hub can handle alongside the apps and the home dashboard it is meant to run. Apple has not said how it allocates memory on HomeView, and it has not commented on the report.

For now the 8GB number should be treated as a MacRumors finding, not an Apple specification. Independent teardowns and reviews, which typically follow once units reach customers, should show whether the figure holds.
