Apple sold more Macs in its 2026 fiscal year than in any previous fiscal year, CEO John Ternus said on the company's earnings call earlier this week, as MacRumors reported on Thursday.

"We have never sold more Macs in a fiscal year than we did this time, which is a truly remarkable testament to these incredible products," Ternus said, according to MacRumors' account of the call.

Driven by MacBook Neo and MacBook Pro

Chief Financial Officer Kevan Parekh said recent Mac sales have been driven by the popularity of the MacBook Neo and the MacBook Pro, MacRumors reports. Apple did not, in the remarks cited, break out unit numbers for the record year, so the size of the increase is not known from the comments reported so far.

The record comes despite supply limits. MacRumors notes that several Mac models faced constraints during the year, which makes the milestone more notable: Apple was apparently unable to build every Mac customers wanted and still set a unit record.

The wider picture

The Mac remark landed in the middle of a strong financial report. In its official press release for the quarter ended September 26, Apple said it posted revenue of $114.5 billion, up 12 percent year over year, and described fiscal 2026 as its best year ever, with all-time record revenue of $479 billion, according to the company.

Ternus also used the release to point to a hardware lineup he described as Apple's most ambitious yet. Alongside the iPhone Duo and the iPhone 18 Pro models, he cited new hardware for the home and the arrival of Touch on the Mac for the first time, a reference to the touchscreen MacBook Pro models that began reaching customers this week.

What to watch

Apple has previously warned that memory costs and component availability could keep supply of some Macs and iPads tight in the current quarter, as covered earlier on Cupertino News. That leaves the holiday period as the next test of whether Apple can keep Mac momentum going while managing constrained inventory.

The newly arrived MacBook Pro models, plus the MacBook Neo, which has been a driver of the year's growth, will likely be the products to follow when Apple next reports results. Apple has not given a timeline for resolving any Mac supply constraints.
