Apple says the iPhone Duo goes on sale Friday, October 23, but it is warning that walk-in supply will be "limited" and expects stock to sell out quickly, MacRumors reports. The company has described pre-order demand as "extraordinary."

According to the report, customers can try to buy on a walk-in basis in the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye and the United Kingdom. In Italy, some Apple Stores will have walk-in stock, though Apple has not said which ones. In Macao, walk-in sales are available on launch day only, with limited inventory.

Reservations required elsewhere

Apple does not plan walk-in sales on launch day in France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates. Customers there need to reserve a specific pickup time slot through Apple's online store. Apple's site tells shoppers to check back on Saturday, October 24, for pickup reservations, and it is not clear whether reservations will be possible on launch day itself.

MacRumors says Apple's reasoning is crowd management and discouraging scalping. A separate MacRumors report says Apple Store employees were told to steer customers without a pre-order away from walk-in visits, since launch-day walk-in stock was likely to be unavailable.

What Apple is selling

In its own newsroom post about the launch, Apple describes the iPhone Duo as having its largest iPhone display when opened, which it says is 50 percent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max's, along with a 5.4-inch outer display, the A20 Pro chip and an IP68 rating. It comes in star white and night sky, and Apple also offers two cases, the iPhone Duo Case and the iPhone Duo Folio, both compatible with MagSafe.

Apple's post also lists trade-in credit of $175 to $885 for an eligible iPhone 13 or newer, Apple Upgrade leases starting at $57.99 per month for 24 months, and three free months of Apple One for new and qualified returning subscribers who buy an iPhone Duo.

What to expect

Apple has not published unit counts for individual stores, so availability will vary by location. Shoppers hoping to buy without a pre-order should check local store information from Apple before heading out, and those in reservation-only countries should watch Apple's online store for the pickup booking window.
