Apple's tvOS 27.2 update, which began rolling out on Monday, brings FaceTime links, more flexible screen savers and a new way to track down a misplaced Siri Remote, according to the company's release notes and a MacRumors summary of them.
FaceTime on the big screen
With the update, Apple TV users can join FaceTime calls directly from a link. The notes also describe support for sign language interpreter and captioning services, which lets people add third-party services to a call.
Screen savers get more personal
Apple says screen savers now offer photo personalization: an iPhone can be used to choose specific photos for the display, without handing the full photo library over to the Apple TV. A new Shuffle option cycles through different screen saver categories rather than sticking to one.
Find My reaches the remote
The release adds Find My support for the Siri Remote. Users of the second-generation Siri Remote and later can locate it from an iPhone. MacRumors adds that Precision Finding, the feature that points the way to a nearby item, is limited to the fourth-generation Siri Remote.
What is not included
Apple's notes say Siri AI is on its way to the Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and newer, but it is not switched on for those models in tvOS 27.2. The update also carries bug fixes and security updates.
tvOS 27.2 is available for the Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and later. Apple's full notes are in its support document for the release.
This update follows earlier coverage of the 27.2 releases, which also laid groundwork for four-speaker home theater audio on the new Apple TV 4K. The additions here are mostly quality-of-life changes, but the FaceTime link support and the photo-picking tool in particular make the living-room box a bit more connected to the iPhone.
