Democrats reportedly plan to investigate Apple over White House ballroom donations and ICE-related app removals, 9to5Mac says
Apple is reportedly on the radar of Democratic lawmakers who are preparing new investigations into large technology companies and their ties to the Trump administration, according to a report from 9to5Mac that draws on Reuters and The Washington Post.
Records request over the White House ballroom
9to5Mac, citing Reuters, says Senator Richard Blumenthal has called on Apple and other donors to the White House ballroom project to hand over records. The report adds that subpoenas could follow if Democrats take control of Congress in January, when Blumenthal is expected to chair the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. Apple and Nvidia are said to have each pledged $25 million to the project, which makes them two of its largest donors.
