iPhone 15 Pro Max
A 5x tetraprism telephoto in the largest titanium iPhone.
Overview
The 15 Pro Max was the one Pro model with a unique camera. Folding the light path inside the body with a prism, Apple fit a 120mm-equivalent telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, the longest on any iPhone to date, and combined it with 3D sensor-shift stabilization to hold the image steady.
Otherwise it matched the 15 Pro with a lightweight titanium frame, the Action button, the A17 Pro chip with 8GB of RAM and USB-C with USB 3 speeds. The 6.7-inch ProMotion display had thin bezels, and battery life reached up to 29 hours of video playback.
Base storage doubled to 256GB, and the price rose to $1,199 to reflect it, up $100 from the previous Pro Max. It was the lightest Pro Max design in years at 221 grams, 19 grams under the 14 Pro Max.
Why it mattered
Its tetraprism lens established long-zoom telephoto as the Pro Max differentiator.
