Gurman: Apple will skip M6 Pro and Max and move to M7, leaving the OLED MacBook Pro on M5 chips

RumorsOct 18, 2026 at 7:14 AM

Apple is reportedly planning to skip most of the M6 family and jump straight to a next-generation M7 chip line, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The details, relayed by MacRumors from Gurman's podcast on Thursday, October 15, would shape Apple's Mac lineup well into 2028. Apple has not commented on any of it.

Gurman said Apple is "pretty much done" with M6 chips. The M6 has already appeared in the Mac mini, and the company is expected to use it in an M6 iMac and an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro. Apple does not, however, plan M6 Pro, M6 Max or M6 Ultra variants, he reported.

Gurman: Apple tested 60Hz and 120Hz displays for the OLED iPad mini, and Macs could go on sale November 6

RumorsOct 16, 2026 at 3:13 PM

Apple has reportedly tested two different display options for its next iPad mini, and the new tablet may reach shelves earlier than many expected. Both details come from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, speaking on his Power On podcast, as relayed by MacRumors and iClarified. Apple has not confirmed any of it.

According to Gurman, Apple has tested both 60Hz and 120Hz ProMotion panels for the OLED iPad mini. He said he has not learned which version Apple ultimately chose. That is notable because an earlier supply-chain rumor pointed to a 60Hz-only display, so the new report suggests the question is not settled, at least as far as his sources can tell.

Rumor: Apple plans October 27-28 creator showcase for OLED MacBook Pro, M6 iMac and iPad mini

RumorsOct 12, 2026 at 9:15 AM

Unconfirmed rumor. The details below come from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, as relayed by MacRumors, and Apple has said nothing about them.

Gurman reports that Apple plans a two-day showcase in Los Angeles for content creators on October 27 and 28. It is not expected to be a traditional livestreamed Apple Event, but a set of hands-on "experiences" similar to the October 13 launches.

Four products are said to be on the list. The first is a 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with OLED touchscreens, M5 Pro or M5 Max chips, a Dynamic Island, a lighter body and possibly a cellular modem. The second is a 24-inch iMac with an M6 chip and new colors. The third is a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6.

Rumor: Bloomberg says Apple has ten products lined up for October

RumorsOct 8, 2026 at 12:02 AM

Rumor roundup. This piece summarises a Bloomberg report from Mark Gurman, as relayed by MacRumors on October 8.

The report said Apple would unveil smart home hardware on October 13: a new HomePod mini with new colors and a newer chip, an Apple TV 4K with an A19-class chip and an updated remote, and an entirely new hub with a square display of around 6 inches. Apple did announce a hub, an Apple TV and a HomePod mini on that day, though the final hub display size was 7 inches, which shows how details in rumors can shift.

Rumor: no new Vision Pro expected for at least two years

RumorsMay 11, 2026 at 9:19 AM

Unconfirmed report from May 2026. MacTrast relayed reporting from Mark Gurman's Power On newsletter dated May 10.

According to the report, Apple has not fully given up on the Vision Pro. It is said to be quietly working on technologies and materials that could go into a future headset that is cheaper, lighter and fully enclosed. However, no such product is reportedly in active development, and buyers hoping for a new Vision Pro model may need to wait at least two more years.

The rumored Vision Air headset was reportedly cancelled in 2025. Gurman says visionOS continues to be developed because it underpins Apple's higher-priority smart glasses plans and supports current Vision Pro owners.
