iPhone 14 Plus
A 6.7-inch screen without the Pro price, replacing the mini.
Overview
Apple swapped the small iPhone for a big one. The iPhone 14 Plus offered the same 6.7-inch display size as the Pro Max but with a standard-refresh OLED panel, an aluminum frame and the A15 Bionic with a five-core GPU, in a body that weighed 203 grams.
The big draw was battery life. With a battery of about 4,325 mAh, Apple claimed up to 26 hours of video playback, a higher figure than any other iPhone not in the Pro Max class. It also had the same main camera upgrades as the 14, including the larger sensor and Photonic Engine, as well as Crash Detection and satellite emergency messaging.
The Plus went on sale three weeks later than the other models, on 7 October 2022. It was priced $100 above the standard model and did not sell as well as hoped, and the Plus name was retained for later generations.
Why it mattered
It put a large-screen format in the mainstream lineup, a role the Plus models kept through the iPhone 16 generation.
