NewsOct 19, 2026 at 9:14 AM

General Motors has begun rolling out Apple Wallet car key support in select Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles, according to a GM press release dated September 23 that MacRumors says it only noticed on Monday. The same digital key also works with Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet, and availability covers the United States and Canada.

GM's schedule has two waves. Support is arriving now, across September and October, for the 2027 Cadillac Vistiq, the 2026 and 2027 Cadillac Optiq, and the 2025 through 2027 Cadillac Lyriq. A second group is listed for December: the 2027 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade IQ/IQL, the 2026 and 2027 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and the 2026 and 2027 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. GM says more models will follow.

Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 arrive with S11 chip and new health sensor

NewsSep 11, 2026 at 8:00 AM

Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 at its September 9 event. Both are built around a new S11 chip, which Ubergizmo says handles on-device machine learning more efficiently.

On health, the watches get an updated sensor system that improves heart-rate accuracy and adds hypertension notifications. A new Functional Strength Training mode covers resistance workouts. Existing features such as sleep apnea detection and stress and cycle tracking remain.

Software additions lean on Apple's new AI features, including on-wrist translation, summaries of messages and notifications, and voice requests that can work without a paired iPhone.

The Apple Watch story: from fitness tracker to health device

HistoryAug 18, 2026 at 3:00 AM

Apple unveiled the Apple Watch in September 2014 and began selling it on April 24, 2015. The first model leaned on a paired iPhone and pitched itself as a communication, fitness and fashion device. Apple even sold a gold Edition model.

The second generation, in 2016, added built-in GPS and water resistance for swimming. Series 3, in 2017, offered optional cellular connectivity, which allowed calls and data without an iPhone nearby.

Series 4 in 2018 enlarged the display and introduced the electrocardiogram app, a milestone that turned the watch into a health-screening device in supported countries. Fall detection arrived at the same time. Series 5 in 2019 added an always-on display. Series 6 in 2020 added a blood oxygen sensor.
