iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th generation)
The M2 refresh keeps the mini-LED display and the big canvas.
Overview
The sixth-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro was another internal refresh that held onto the design of its two predecessors. Its Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display remained the best screen Apple made for iPad at the time, with local dimming and 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness.
The move to the M2 chip raised performance and enabled ProRes video capture, and the Pencil hover feature let the tablet detect the stylus just above the screen. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 improved wireless performance.
It shipped with iPadOS 16.1 and Stage Manager external display support, which allowed windows to be resized and overlapped on both the tablet and a connected monitor. It was the final iPad to use the earlier mini-LED screen before the OLED models arrived in 2024.
Why it mattered
The final mini-LED iPad Pro before Apple switched the line to OLED.
