MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009)
The aluminum MacBook was renamed MacBook Pro and gained an SD slot.
Overview
At WWDC 2009 the 13-inch aluminum MacBook was folded into the Pro line with a few extras. It brought back FireWire 800, added an SD card slot and a backlit keyboard, and had a built-in battery claimed to last up to seven hours.
The 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of memory and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics were similar to those of the former MacBook. A 2.53 GHz model was available for more money.
Later versions switched to Core i5 and i7 processors and then Thunderbolt, and the 13-inch size stayed in the range for another decade.
Why it mattered
Established the 13-inch MacBook Pro, which became the bread-and-butter Apple laptop for the 2010s.
