MacBook Pro (14-inch, M3 Pro / M3 Max, 2023)
Space Black arrives alongside M3 Pro and M3 Max.
Overview
Alongside the base M3 model, Apple released the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. M3 Pro offered an 11- or 12-core CPU with 14 or 18 GPU cores, while M3 Max reached a 16-core CPU, 40 GPU cores and up to 128 GB of unified memory.
The finishes were Silver and the new Space Black, which used a special anodization process designed to reduce fingerprints. Hardware ray tracing, mesh shading and Dynamic Caching improved performance in 3D and games.
Battery life was rated at up to 18 hours on the 14-inch version, shorter than the base M3 model, because of the more powerful chips and larger memory capacity.
Why it mattered
Brought the Space Black finish and the M3 GPU architecture to the high-end MacBook Pro.
