MacBook Pro (14-inch, M4 Pro / M4 Max, 2024)
Thunderbolt 5 and up to 128 GB of memory in a 14-inch body.
Overview
The pro models of the M4 generation moved the Mac laptop to Thunderbolt 5, with transfer rates of up to 120 Gbps, which suited fast external storage and multiple monitors. M4 Pro offered a 12- or 14-core CPU with 16 or 20 GPU cores and 24 or 48 GB of memory.
M4 Max went to a 14- or 16-core CPU, up to 40 GPU cores and 128 GB of unified memory, with bandwidth reaching 546 GB/s. The Space Black finish carried on, together with the 12-megapixel Center Stage camera and an optional nano-texture display.
Battery life stayed at 22 hours of video playback, and the 14-inch Pro and Max supported up to three external displays on the M4 Pro and four on the M4 Max.
Why it mattered
