MacBook Pro (16-inch, M3 Pro / M3 Max, 2023)
The flagship laptop with up to 128 GB of memory and a Space Black shell.
Overview
The 16-inch version of the M3 range shared the chip options of the 14-inch model but had a larger battery and more cooling headroom, so it held peak performance for longer. It offered the same Space Black and Silver finishes and a 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display at 3456 by 2234 pixels.
The M3 Max offered a 16-core CPU, up to 40 GPU cores, and as much as 128 GB of memory with 400 GB/s of bandwidth. The M3 Pro option started at 2,499 dollars.
Battery life was rated at up to 22 hours of video playback, with three Thunderbolt 4 ports and an HDMI port that supported 8K displays. It was replaced by the M4 generation in 2024.
Why it mattered
